D I S S E M I N A T I O N for Professional Practice

This is one of the first videos I looked at when searching
"Fashion Film"

AMAZING!!

I've wanted to play around with projected images onto the body for so long now, I've just never had the time nor the facilities to do so. This film just reignited my desire to get back on the projector wagon.

SCINTILLATION
XAVIER CHASSAING

"This is an experimental film made up of over 35,000 photographs. It combines an innovative mix of stop motion and live projection mapping techniques"

These two next movies were shown to me by a friend and I thought I would put them in because of their sheer beauty. These movies portray a fragility through soft and elegant filmography.

THE LOST EXPLORER (TRAILER)
TIM WALKER
BASED ON THE NOVEL BY PATRICK McGRATH

EXPLORATION OF THE FEMALE FORM
I have specifically picked the next few films because of their significance in relation to the female form. This exploration of the female form through other peoples videos gives me another perspective and new form of media to be inspired by.

I love the female form to no end and this video is an amazing example of singling out an area and making a masterpiece out of it. The way the clip is entitled "Virgina" lends itself to possibly being perceived as grotesque or confrontational, but Lucy McRae really pays homage to the female anatomy.

VAGINA
LUCY McRAE
FOR NICK KNIGHT @ SHOWSTUDIONick
MUSIC BY BF-LEISCHMANN 'LAST TIME WE MET AT A T&TT CONCERT'

"A new work inspired by the well coveted part of the human body, the Vagina for his project The Fashion Body. The result is an electrifying journey of Lucy's body morph sculptures in amongst a surrealist, psychic-sexual landscape"

This video by TEST is beautiful. The quick movement from image to image draws me in and enthrals me. The exploration into the female form is not abruptly noticeable but suggested, it's all the other snippets of imagery that suggest an eroticized body and a tension between man and woman.

LOVELY CREATURE
TEST

I find this video remarkable partly due to the exclusion of clothing. A lot of these videos I've watched are trying to fit their entire collection into a 3min film bombarding the viewer with constant change. Constant change isn't always a bad thing but in a 3min film it can get a little distracting. You have to keep the film short and engaging to keep the viewer interested, this is a short fashion film not a feature film.
This video shows you the form through a series of photos, there is not to much to take in and there is constant moving and change to keep the viewer interested, the film clearly illustrate the notion of 'movement' and 'non-movement'.

A SECRET PLACE
ALESSANDRO AMADUCCI
CHOREOGRAPHY GIULIANA URCIUOLI

"An inhabited zone of a secret place. A female figure is melt with natural and digital landscapes. Maybe she is a ghost, maybe the real artifex of the place. The zone itself can be something real, or something related to a inner vision of the landscape. The gestures of the body of the dancer is made by sequences of photos, to create an ambiguity between movement and not-movement. The final result is a sort of animation made with a real body"

INTERACTION
...between garment and wearer, this is an obviously purposeful interaction but still the same its very cool.

A MODERN RITUAL
HERMIONE FLYNN
DIRECTED PHOTOGRAPHED & EDITED RYAN FIELDING

"Promo film to launch Hermione Flynn's Spring/Summer collection "A MODERN RITUAL". The film premiered at the fashion boutique, The Service Depot, in Wellington.
The work is a response to the themes promoted in A MODERN RITUAL, although in an entirely rebellious way. One explored control, monotony and structure, the other explores organic movement, mark-making and above all, chance"
